Conscious Capitalism with Social Activist Hoda Katebi
February 19, 2019 @ 6:30 pm
@UpEffect is hosting a live conversation with US-based Muslim-Iranian creative, fashion blogger and social activist Hoda Katebi promises to be intellectually stimulating, perfect for activists looking to push social change.
Katebi, a culture critic, writer and the strong, passionate voice behind JooJoo Azad, the radical, political fashion online publication hailed from BBC to the New York Times, and author of the book Tehran Streetstyle, the first-ever in-print photo documentation and celebration of ‘illegal’ underground fashion in Iran and host of #BecauseWeveRead, a radical, international book club that complicates, challenges and redefines how people understand the world (which also organises regular meet-ups in cities around the world) will take to the stage to explore issues surrounding fast fashion and consumption and how to build a financially equitable world with conscious capitalism.
The evening with Katebi, organised by UpEffect and moderated by Georgina Wilson-Powell, founder of pebble magazine, is expected to attract more than 200 other passionate like-minded people looking to build a brighter world.
