Australia’s biggest community and sustainability event, Garage Sale Trail, is now just over a month away and registrations have been pouring in like never before, promising to be a gigantic weekend of waste-reducing, planet saving, treasure hunting fun.
Now in its ninth year, the multi award-winning national initiative seeks to educate Australians on the importance of reuse and the need to take individual responsibility for the impact of our consumption habits whilst building stronger, more connected and resilient communities.
With thousands of people around the country currently spring cleaning in preparation for garage sales already registered for the 19th and 20th October event, Garage Sale Trail 2019 is set to offer up a wealth of weird and wonderful sales, sellers and items for fans of pre-loved to discover around the country. This year’s Garage Sale Trail is set to be the biggest yet with 400,000 Aussies projected to take part as sellers and shoppers at over 18,000 garage sale events to be held across the country with upwards of three million kilos of stuff to be diverted from landfill.
From a self described “showgirl” selling her vintage wares to get to Hollywood, to a Queensland family offloading the contents of a “mystery room” they uncovered in their new home, and a Tiki loving blacksmith looking to rehome his extensive collection of Simpsons memorabilia … there are so many reasons why people list a Garage Sale Trail.
Here’s just a taste of what’s on across the country so far….
VIC
