Written and directed by award-winning filmmaker of Damon Gameau (the brains behind That Sugar Film) environmental documentary 2040 peeks into what our future could look like by the year 2040 if we embraced the best solutions available to us to tackle a changing climate, make sustainable use of earth’s resources, improve the planet and bring them into the mainstream.
Interviewing some of the best minds in the fields of climate, economics, technology, civil society, agriculture and sustainability, including Paul Hawken, Dr Kate Raworth and Professor Genevieve Bell, 2040 takes an optimistic approach to dealing with the world’s current environmental and climate change issues. The film provides a hopeful pathway to reversing global warming and creating a more ecologically sustainable and equitable future that harnesses human ingenuity and the power of technology.
As the film’s website states:
“[The film] is a positive vision of what ‘could be’, instead of the dystopian future we are so often presented.”
