For all you fence sitters

There’s only a few more days to decide who you are going to vote for in the Federal election this Saturday and I’m surprised how many people are still undecided.

So if you are a fence sitter, I can help.

I’ll let you in on who NOT to vote for….

Don’t.

Vote.

Liberal.

And here’s why:

The Liberals are a bunch of money-hungry, greedy capitalists that “work towards a lean government that minimises interference in our daily lives; and maximises individual and private sector initiative.” Basically, they put money, the pursuit of money, selfishness and greed first. I don’t agree that government should reduce their part in running this country. I’d much rather people we elected than those greedy, six-figure salaried CEO’s. Government has every right to protect its citizens. Why do you think we have unions? Why do you think we have so many different consumer lobby groups? If the private sector was getting it right, than we wouldn’t have to have these groups protecting us from them. Think about it.

They also don’t believe in taxing the wealthy because it is a “disincentive.” Sure thing, why not reduce the taxes on the wealthy, use the money they get by cutting funding to social welfare and health and then use that on Australia’s defence instead. That’s a great way to spend our money. (Note: that was my attempt at sarcasm)

Somewhere in their beliefs is the “importance of the family” however fail to address the issue that by creating a capitalistic dog-eat-dog world and encouraging the pursuit of material prosperity, time with family is replaced with time at the office just to keep up with the Joneses.

The Liberal Party also believe “in equal opportunity for all Australians; and the encouragement and facilitation of wealth so that all may enjoy the highest possible standards of living, health, education and social justice” which is hypocritical when they were the party that brought in Work Choices – a policy that reduced worker’s rights and entitlements and made it hard for the an average employee to fight against unfair dismissal.

They also believe in “preserving Australia’s natural beauty and the environment for future generations” whilst they move to abolish the mining tax and allow mining companies to hit record profits worth billions and billions of dollars. Guess they had to put in some fluffy stuff in their vision statement but it comes across as so fake you can see right through it.

So there you have it – the basic foundations of the Liberal Party. Not the warmest fuzziest caring bunch. But then again, who has time to care when there’s money to be made?
